Cyanotypes
There is a quiet magic in the cyanotype, an analogue photographic process that traces its origins to the 19th century.
Each piece begins in darkness. The chemistry is brushed by hand onto thick paper, transforming it into a light-sensitive surface that waits for its moment of illumination. I photograph my models in the studio, a mixture of dancers, aerial artists, and performers before layering the images with natural fragments: pressed flowers, grasses, and ephemera gathered from both my studio collections and the wild.
Exposed to sunlight, these layered compositions come alive, the forms intertwine, and then fix in radiant cobalt.
Each work is unique - an original on paper, often hand-painted and finished with 22ct gold leaf. The meeting of light, chemistry, and human presence transforms each image into something both timeless and ethereal.
