Private commissions
Commissions are a beautiful way to bring to life old family images hidden away in photo albums, celebrate a loved one, or immortalise a glamorous ancestor... and they make extra special handmade presents!
Working with both historical and new images, I provide a personalised service throughout the process: from helping to select photos, to incorporating special elements, colours, flowers etc to the final hand-finished touches in watercolours or shimmering powders.
Prints can be created at any size.
There may be a waiting list for commissions, please get in touch and I can let you know estimated waiting time.

Daisy and Nora Private Collection
Hand-painted charcoal and bronze powder screen-prints, using family photographs.

These hand-painted photopolymer etchings draw on a personal collection of photographs from school dance classes. The theatre sets were all handmade in my studio and then photographed, while the dancers — students captured in unusual, often expressive or semaphore-like poses — were originally photographed the clients aunt a dance teacher in the 1940s.
They provided a wonderfully rich starting point for this commission. My client, who works in television and film, was particularly drawn to my use of maquette-style sets. For her, I hand-built two bespoke scenes, incorporating personal motifs such as Greek columns, a crab, and swans — symbols with special meaning to her and her family.
I loved creating these intimate, narrative pieces, which both celebrate and reinterpret a family legacy through the language of theatre, dance, and handmade craft.

Private Comission for Katie Woods, featuring her mum, created using an photograph provided by Katie, charcoal and bronze powder screenprint on paper. Heres what she had to say:
'I have a special squidgy space in my heart for Rosie. Around 5 years ago we commissioned her to paint a special piece for my mum from one of my favourite photos of her. This is a photo of her when she was in her early 20’s. An absolute stunner! I’d first found Rosie via Smithson Projects (an amazing place to discover new artists and buy art) and fell in love with her work. Etheral, whimsical, lose yourself in them kinda pieces and she absolutely pulled it out of the bag with what she created. We ended up ordering two they were that special and mum has one hanging at her house and I have the other.'
