Art on a Postcard Winter Auction 2020

I am pleased to have two prints in this year's Art on a Postcard Winter Auction. The event runs from the 5th to 29th November and is raising money for the Hepatitis C Trust.

My prints Ebony Rose and Dreamers are up for auction.

This auction will focus on The Hepatitis C Trust’s helpline which is staffed entirely by people who have had hepatitis C. The helpline has become a key component in the current Infected Blood Inquiry the largest public enquiry in British history, which was launched to investigate why infected blood products were being used to treat NHS patients prior to 1992.

Behind the Canvas, Decorazon Gallery

I was recently interviewed for a new feature from Decorazon Gallery, where they explore the motivation, inspiration & background of their artists.

Below are a few extracts, but you can read the full interview in their mailout and view my updated artist page on their website.

"I feel very fortunate that I come from a creative family.
My parents' house is full of delftware, old books, broken pots and flotsam and jetsam, things salvaged off skips, and handmade gifts.
My father is a cabinet maker and I loved spending time in his workshop discovering secret drawers and compartments in the beautiful old bureaus and desks he was restoring."

"My grandmother Keyna Emerson is also a painter. She attended the Slade School of Art in London just before and just after the second world war, and continues painting, though her dream was to be a set designer. I’ve been thinking of this a lot, whilst looking through her books on set and costume design and making my own theatre maquettes."

The Dancing Marquess
Photopolymer etching on heavyweight Southbank 310 gsm paper
Edition of 20
Paper size: 44 x 56 cm
Retail price unframed incl. VAT: £320.00
ACBF Price: £270
About the work:
This new work features a hand-built theatre set framing a historical photograph of Henry Cyril Paget, the 5th Marquess of Anglesey (1875-1905). The composite was then exposed on to a hand cut arch shaped etching plate, each print is individually inked before going through the press.
Henry Cyril Paget was an Edwardian peer, known for his love of glittering, lavish costumes and extravagant theatre performances.
Paget converted his inherited family chapel into an ornate, 150 seat theatre, which he named the Gaiety, where he performed plays by Oscar Wilde – a bold move at the time since Wilde had been jailed for 'obscenity'.
He earned the title of the Dancing Marquess after his Butterfly Dancing, where he would perform in a voluminous robe of transparent white silk that would be waved like wings.
10% of profits from this print will go to All Out Charity
All Out campaign and fight for a world where NO ONE has to sacrifice their family, freedom, safety, or dignity because of who they are or who they love.

Women by Women at The Royal Over Sea’s League

‘Women by Women’ by the Royal Over-Seas League (ROSL) and Liberty Gallery welcomes the work of Marcelina Amelia, Rosie Emerson, Delphine Lebourgeois and Maria Rivans to Over-Seas house. ROSL occupies space in both Clubland and the Art World, two places that have historically had problematic relationships with women and inclusion, ‘Women by Women’ is inspired by the foresight of ROSL to welcome women as equal members of the club since its inception, while also supporting the arts in all its forms. ROSL is once again working with Liberty Gallery, an organisation that champions early career artists. The four artists involved capture women in their work and the exhibition highlights their different approaches and themes.

‘Women by Women’ explores a historic subject, captured in a modern way by contemporary artists.
